In March, 1977 ( I know, ages ago!!!) a group of dinner ladies were cooking lunch when the oven suddenly caught fire. The fire caught the school. 2 junior classes were set alight and the hall got demolished. Thankfully the fire brigade got the school sorted out quickly.Then, it luckily was rebuilt. While the repairs were underway, the infants were temporarily moved to Carlton Road nursery while the juniors were learning in mobile classrooms in the playground!!!!!!
